In order to improve students’ interest in English learning and to cultivate students’ better English learning sense, there was an excellent English theme carnival, This is Another Try, held on December 24th, 2020 in Yulong Campus by English teaching and research group. Many distinguished school leaders and teachers attended this event. This carnival is not only the first large-scale English activity, but also a great try for English teaching and learning.

为了提高学生英语学习的兴趣，为了培养学生们更好的英语学习意识，由英语教研组承办的“This is Another Try”主题英语嘉年华于2020年12月24日在御龙校区盛大开幕。许多校级领导和老师出席了本次活动。此次英语类盛会不仅仅是首届大型英语活动，更是英语教学中一次重要的尝试。

PART ONE

The carnival was divided into three parts. The main part was a dubbing competition for the English movies. The fourteen teams from twelve classes, which took part in this competition, were selected by six English teachers in the early stage. The final scores were given by the leader group according to students’ performance.

本次英语晚会分为三部分，最主要的部分就是英文电影配音大赛。六位英语老师在前期初赛时从12个班级中筛选出了14组优秀的配音作品。最终结果是由本次出席晚会的领导，根据各组现场配音表现进行打分决定的。

PART TWO

The second part is guessing game and tongue twists. All students were required to join in this session. They showed their positive attitudes to this part.

第二部分是游戏环节：竞猜游戏和绕口令。全场的同学都参与其中，他们都十分积极。

PART THREE

The last part is the most exciting part for the whole activities. It was an awarding ceremony. It would promote students’ enthusiasm to expose themselves to the English studies better.

最后是颁奖典礼，这也是本场晚会的高潮环节。通过这个荣耀的时刻，学生们能够更加热情积极地将自己融入到英语学习中去。

Impression

This successful English carnival has been highly praised by teachers and students. A Chinese teacher said that she marveled at the amazing dubbing work those students does. A voice actor from Class Nine expressed her strong desire to be involved in English activities as much as they can in future learning. “English dubbing show is really interesting! I hope we can have more chances to hold such an English party!” Another student from Class Eight also showed his resolution for further study. He said “From this party, I found there was still a big distance from the hosts and me. They can use English to express themselves fluently while I can only take English exams in my daily life.”

这场成功的英语嘉年华受到了老师和同学们的高度赞扬。一位观看了比赛全程的语文老师说她真的很惊叹于学生们配音能力和英语水平。一位来自九班的配音演员表达了她强烈的愿望，希望在未来的英语学习中能更多的让自己参加到这样的活动中来。她说：“英语配音大赛真的很有趣，我希望我们学校能多举办类似的英语活动。”另一个来自八班的观赛同学也表达了他对英语学习的决心。他说：“从这次活动中，我看出来了自己与别人的差距。主持人们可以流利地使用英语表达自己，而我只在考试时使用英语。”

This carnival also brought teachers some reflections. Different types of English activities can stimulate students’ different aspects in English learning. Therefore, English teaching should be combined with all kinds of English activities so that students’ interest can be aroused in every English part, including reading, listening and writing.

这场活动也给老师带来了一些反思和感悟。不同种类的英语活动能够刺激学生们在英语学习中的不同方面。因此，英语教学应该和各种各样的英语活动相结合，从而达到在听说读写不同方面都能引起学生们的兴趣。
